Hoeing Machine

VSS Agro has developed a new type of hoeing tool or cultivator especially for narrower rows. This type has been designed specifically for hoeing and earthing up crops such as onions that are grown in rows relatively close together, but it is also suitable for crops in rows 50 cm apart.

The tall, narrow shape of the hoeing machine means that it causes virtually no damage to the crop when in operation. The stable construction of the hoeing tool, which moves in a straight line supported by bearings, means that there is no play in its movements and that it is maintenance-free. With this construction, we can keep the tool short, which increases the precision of hoeing operations. The hoeing tool is built to a modular design, which allows users to build on a number of mechanical weed control attachments, such as a holder for 1 or 3 hoeing blades, vibrating blades, vibrating spring tines, earthing-up tools or harrow tines. Crop protection discs can also be mounted on the hoeing tool.

The tool can also be used to mount spray nozzles for chemical weedkillers. Attachments are mounted on the crossbeam by means of a quick-change system, and can be easily positioned for specific row spacing. The height of the tool can be adjusted finely by means of a spindle. With narrow row spacing such as for onions, the wheels can be shielded by crop protection guards which ensure that the plants are not squashed under the wheels of the cart or damaged. In addition to wheels with pneumatic tyres, the cart can also be supplied with semi-pneumatic wheels. The crossbeam or tool carrier is equipped with support wheels and 400x8 wheels with pneumatic tyres and can be mounted either in front of or behind the tractor. Tool carriers with a working width of over 3 metres can be folded up hydraulically.
